Stress-Reducing Yoga Poses
There’s no question that yoga is a great way to reduce stress. In fact, a study published in the journal Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine found that yoga may be an effective treatment for stress, anxiety, and depression.
If you’re looking for a way to reduce stress, try practicing some of these yoga poses:
1. Child’s Pose
Child’s pose is a great way to relax the body and mind. To do child’s pose, start on your hands and knees, then bring your big toes together and sit back on your heels. Extend your arms forward and rest your forehead on the floor. Hold for 5-10 breaths.
2. Downward-Facing Dog
Downward-facing dog is a great pose to open up the shoulders and chest. To do downward-facing dog, start on your hands and knees, then tuck your toes and lift your hips up and back. Spread your fingers and press your heels into the floor. Hold for 5-10 breaths.
3. Cat-Cow Pose
Cat-cow pose is a great way to warm up the spine and stretch the back. To do cat-cow pose, start on your hands and knees, then inhale as you arch your back and look up. Exhale as you round your back and tuck your chin. Repeat for 5-10 breaths.
4. Camel Pose
Camel pose is a great way to open up the chest and stretch the back. To do camel pose, start on your knees, then reach back and grab your heels. Lift your chest up and press your hips forward. Hold for 5-10 breaths.
5. Warrior I Pose
Warrior pose is a great way to open up the hips and stretch the legs. To do warrior pose, start in a standing position, then step your left foot back and bend your left knee. Reach your arms up and overhead. Hold for 5-10 breaths. Repeat on the other side.
